Name registered in May of 1980 as "Caer Galen, Shire of" and updated in January of 2004 to "Caer Galen, Barony of" in January of 2004. Name derived from the Welsh words "Caer" meaning castle/fort, and "Galan" meaning noise. It was originally intended to mean "Valley of Song".
