Rapier - C & T Resources

Rapier combat in the Society for Creative Anachronism is not what you would see in the Olympics. The manuals and treaties of the Late Middle Ages and Renaissance are the important precursors to today's modern fencing style.

Rapier combat in the Society is based on a system of honor and chivalry. The combat is full speed and is unchoreographed. It is the combatants themselves who determine if the attacks they receive were successful based on the angle, location, and force of the strike. Safety officers, known as marshals, are always on hand to ensure that the combat is performed safely and to ensure that all equipment used meets established safety standards.

Those who study the "Art of Defense" will find resources to further their craft in the following pages.

Authorizing to fight

So, where does one start? What needs to be purchased? What can be self-made? Who do I talk to?

Authorizing to Field Marshal

You wish to give back to the community. Becoming a field marshal is one way to do just that. And you don't have to be a rapier fighter to become one!
